Symposium Held on the 24th March 2007

The need for youth to get finance to startup their business is the biggest hurdle for them to be financially stable. The K.I.C decided to hold the symposium because with the newly introduced Youth fund, most youth didn't know how to acquire the money. To make matters even a bigger challange, our research proved that out of every ten youths only two knew how to write business proposals, business plans and cash projections.

Since we are the only information centre within Easlands that is owned and run by the youth, the centre decided to pick up the challange and do it.We partnered with church youths, and also business consultants who had a heart for the youth.Nairobi Light House Church provided P.A systems and recorders,Kenya Assemblies Of God provided the Multiperpose hall all for free.

We marketed the symposium for a clean two months and partnerd with several stakeholders who included the Ministry of Youth,Kenya women Finance trust,Micro financers,Sme Solutions Centre and business consultants.

On the D-day,upto 185 young adults who are serious about business came on board. They show cased what they do on the market day arena and listened to all the speakers with much emphasis on the youth fund.

The Kimathi information centre has decided that every year we shall be conducting this symposium to adress the desired need at that perticular time.
